Four years later she presented her first collection of one-of-a-kind bags at the September 2024 Milan Fashion Week, at Palazzo Bocconi. She introduced two signature lines: Milano – a tribute to the city of Milan, and Love Art.
The Milano collection featured handcrafted Italian leather bags with an exquisite wooden handle showcasing the designer’s commitment to nature and innovation. Meanwhile, the Love Art collection, a mesmerizing blend of art, fashion and history, presented hand-painted leather bags, each one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
The year 2025 marked a turning point in her career as she unveiled her couture collection at Milan Fashion Week in September and it made her internationally recognized as one of the most remarkable and surprising female designers of her generation.
Her ultra luxury couture collection of bags got features in Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Elle and many other fashion magazines and the bags were sold out in a week. Three of her unique creations were acquired by several royal family members worldwide who have become the brand’s loyal customers.
Marie Massimo couture collection was inspired by the world’s oldest known bag belonging to the Iceman Ötzi, found in the mountains in Italy. Its weaving style inspired Marie to create the brand’s DNA inseparable part – the stunning “Intreccio” weaving technique. The collection revived ancient leather-weaving traditions with a modern sensibility.
Rendered in pastel shades of mint green, baby pink, sky blue and turquoise, the designs embodied elegance in quiet luxury with polished jewelry-grade stainless steel and 24-karat gold-plated hardware. Most of the creations were made with Taurillon leather, the softest and the most luxurious among cowhides.
It is a specific kind of bovine leather from rare Taurus animal which makes it the most expensive and luxurious leather among cowhides. This leather is more robust and resistant than standard calfskin used by other luxury brands. Bull hide comes from a cow that has been raised for approximately 12 months.
Marie Massimo’s “Couture” and “Limited Edition” bags are mostly made with Taurillon, the designer’s favorite material to work with.
THE DESIGNER’S VISION
“When living in the USA,I noticed women wearing the same luxury bags everywhere. They would pay thousands of dollars for a bag only to see the same bag in the hands of other women. I founded the brand with the vision of doing things differently: to design handbags that would make women feel unique by giving them the luxury of wearing a unique creation.
I wanted women to enjoy the luxury of choosing the color, the size of the bag and to make it even more personalized she can choose to have a signature element to express her personality, or it can be a pattern from her favorite artwork”.
