Collezione Intreccio Spring/Summer 2027

MASSIMO MARIE launched its Spring-Summer 2027 Collection on September 25, 2026, in Residenza Vignale on Via Enrico Toti, 2, in Milan, Italy.
The collection is named after a unique leather weaving technique – Intreccio.

The couture collection of One-of-One bags got featured in Harper’s Bazaar.
The world’s oldest bag is made in Intreccio and it is the designer’s inspiration as she prefers her creations to be made in the oldest leather-crafting technique.

The designer was fascinated by her visit to Tirol Museum, when she first saw the word’s oldest bag, 5300 years old belonging to iceman Ötzi found in Italy, in a melting glacier of Tyrolean Alps.

Otzi is the oldest naturally preserved human mummy ever discovered. Attached to his belt was a small leather pouch. The edges of the belt and the bag were laced with flat sturdy leather cord for enhanced looks and durability. And this is when the maison’s signature Intreccio technique was born, later enhanced with the help of Florentine artisans using it for so many centuries.

Ötzi’s DNA has been studied extensively, and it tells us some surprisingly detailed things about him. His genome indicates he was descended largely from early Neolithic farmers who migrated into Europe from Anatolia. Anatolia is a newly made-up term to refer to the Armenian Highlands. Interestingly the world’s oldest leather shoe was found in Armenia, Areni village and it has almost the same age as Otzi’s belt and bag, and it has a similar lacing. Areni is also the place where the designer sources the walnut wood handles of the maison’s iconic Queen Mary bag.
